Overview

Begin your adventure with a hotel pickup between 1:00 AM and 2:30 AM, depending on your location in Bali. Arrive at the base of the active volcano around 3:30 AM, meet your local trekking guide, receive your flashlight, and begin the hike in the cool night air.

Mount Batur stands at 1,717 meters above sea level. The hike typically takes approximately 1.5–2 hours to reach the summit, depending on your pace. At the top, enjoy panoramic sunrise views of Mount Agung, Mount Abang, and Lake Batur.

After sunrise, visit the mountain’s natural steam vents, where eggs and bananas can be cooked. Explore the crater area, take photographs, and descend the mountain. Guests can add optional experiences such as hot springs, cafes, waterfalls, rice terraces, swings, and coffee plantations, depending on their selected package. These stops are not included in every package.

1. 01:30 AM – 03:00 AM

   Hotel pickup

   Pickup depending on hotel location in Ubud, Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu, Legian, Jimbaran, and Nusa Dua, followed by transfer to the Mount Batur sunrise trekking starting point.

2. 03:30 AM – 03:45 AM

   Arrival at base camp

   Arrive at Toya Bungkah or Pura Jati. Meet the trekking guide, receive a safety briefing, and get flashlights and trekking poles.

3. 04:00 AM

   Start the trek

   Follow the sandy trail into volcanic terrain. The guide sets a steady pace and assists along steeper sections.

4. 05:45 AM – 06:00 AM

   Sunrise at the summit

   Enjoy sunrise views over Lake Batur, Mount Abang, and Mount Agung. On clear days, Mount Rinjani may also be visible across the Lombok Strait.

5. 06:15 AM

   Breakfast at the summit

   Small breakfast: banana sandwiches, eggs, biscuits, and hot tea or coffee. The client also describes cooking food over natural volcanic steam vents.

6. 06:45 AM – 07:30 AM

   Explore the crater

   Explore the crater area, observe natural steam vents, and take photographs.

7. 07:30 AM

   Descend Mount Batur

   Begin the descent using the standard trail. A motorbike-taxi alternative is mentioned; price and availability are not provided, so it is not included or guaranteed.

8. 09:30 AM – 11:00 AM

   Optional add-on experiences
